Please kindly introduce yourself.
My name is Obadare Henry Adekunle aka Bishop Sax. I am from Osun State Ori Ade Local Area but was born and brought up inKano State. I attended C & S Primary School, Army Day Secondary School, Kano, then studied History & International Relations in Lagos State University, Lasu.
What do you do?
I am a music minister, the founder and president of Bishop Sax and the Apostles,a fast growing interdenominational music ministry based in Lagos Nigeria. I am also into real estate and business development.
Tell us of your journey into music.
It’s quite amazing. I started music fully in 2000 but before then I already had serious passion for it right from when we were small in Kano. My dad asked us which musical instrument we would like to play, I remembered telling him guitar but my first Instrument was trumpet before I started with my best friend that is what I call my saxophone.
What’s your stage name?
My stage name is Bishop Sax.

What do you think of Nigerian secular musicians?
I think they are doing great most especially since the last decade now. I like how much innovations, creativity and energy they’ve invested into the industry it.
What do you have to say about Nigerian comedians?
No comedian will make heaven. All comedians will go to hell. I say this with no apology to anyone because time without number I have tried to relate comedy to creativity but it has nothing in common coming to the stage and lying to people all in the name of comedy. I think people need to think about what I am saying. What amazes me most is some of the comedians that group themselves and claim they are gospel comedians, you see them come into the church and say all manner of cruel words in the church, sometimes they even mock and call God all sorts of names.
Comedy is a strategy from the pit of hell given to us by the devil to divert people’s attentions into things that are not relevant. I can’t imagine some so-called men of God bringing a comedian into their church because they want to have nice time, and then watch the comedian mock God. As a matter of fact comedy is not in the Bible. Every other kind of work or activities you can think of is in the Bible. It amazes me when you see people gather and begin to say that guy is funny so go and become a comedian… that thought is from the devil. Comedy is from the pit of hell and all comedians are going to hell…I mean all stand up comedians.
Do you plan on releasing an album soon?
Yes, presently I am working on it, believing God that very soon it will be out.
What do you think of the Nigerian musical videos?
Nigerian musical videos are total porn and not soft porn, reason being that nudity is the only concept that the directors have left.
Do you have a message for the directors?
Before my advice for the directors, the censor’s board should be able to regulate the gravity in which nudity is eating up the industry especially via the music videos. Music and image has a lot of influence on the public.
My advice to the directors is that they should try and be creative in their musical production. As a director you must not remix what another director produced and claim it’s yours. They keep recycling nudity and porn instead of trying something new and different.
What do you have to say about the current situation of Nigeria?
First of all I want to thank God for his mercy and grace upon our nation Nigeria. He made us pass through the ups and downs of elections despite the fact that a lot of tension enveloped the nation, and outside world thought Nigeria was going to become bad history.
I strongly believe that God is interested in our nation Nigeria so for that single reason alone Nigeria is on the path to greatness. The president Muhammad Buhari has good plans for the nation with the look of things I know he’s going to do well.
There seem to be many fake pastors in Nigeria today. What do you have to say about that?
That I can’t judge, I am yet to see any fake pastor. It’s only God that knows fake or real pastors.
Are you married?
Yes, I am married with two wonderful daughters.
