RATTAWU, NUJ suspend warning strike

The warning strike embarked upon by the Radio Television
and Theatre Arts Workers Union and the Nigeria Union of
Journalists, FRCN Chapter, over improper appointments and
welfare issues have been suspended for seven days.
This followed the meeting of the unions with the Management
of FRCN and the Ministry of Information.

The National President of RATTAWU, Mr. Yemisi Bamgbose,
who led the Unions in the discussion announced the
suspension of the strike.
Mr. Bamgbose also gave reasons why the unions were
opposed to certain appointments in the Corporation.
On her part, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Information,
Ms Folasade Yemi-Esan, promised to utilize the seven days
into resolving the matter.
The Director-General of FRCN, Mallam Ladan Salidu,
expressed the confidence that the issues in contention would
be resolved amicably, urging the unions to have confidence in
the ability of Management to continue to promote harmonious
working relations in the Corporation.
