Following the impeachment of the Speaker of Ekiti State House of Assembly, Dr. Adewale Omirin and the Deputy Speaker Hon Adetunji Orisalade, they have been replaced by members of the Peoples Democratic Party in the assembly. Hon Dele Olugbemi from Ikole local government and Hon Abeni Olayinka from Ado emerged as speaker and deputy speaker respectively. Olugbemi and Olayinka were part of the 6 lawmakers who defected from the All Progressive Congress (APC) to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on October 16 when Governor Ayo Fayose was inaugurated. The Ekiti State House of Assembly has 26 lawmakers, and 20 of them are in APC
