The Christ Apostolic Church in Delta State has appealed to Nigerians, particularly other Christian bodies in the country, to come to the aid of Pastor John Kayoda.
Pastor Kayoda of CAC Otumara, Warri, Delta State, lost his wife, four children and belongings to a midnight inferno on September 25 while he was away at a minister conference in Osun State.
Chairman of the church council, Pastor Emmanuel Orode, made the appeal during a press briefing held at the CAC headquarters, Garage, along Warri-Sapele Road, Warri, on Wednesday on behalf of the church.
He said given the magnitude of the human and material loss suffered by Pastor Kayoda in the wake of the inferno, the church would appreciate the brotherly intervention of other religious bodies and well-meaning Nigerians.
Pastor Orode said such assistance in cash and kind would not only help the cleric to resettle, but would also help him rebuild his confidence in God and the body of Christ.
Describing Pastor Kayoda’s case as worse than that of biblical Job, Pastor Orode said “We appeal to all Nigerians to come to his aid. He is starting life afresh. His situation is worse than that of a bachelor. We need to rehabilitate him and start afresh. We appeal to people of God to assist him in kind and cash to help him build confidence in God and man again.”
He said the rehabilitation of the man of God is a challenge to the body of Christ in Nigeria and worldwide, saying “we are all affected by reason of belonging to the same body of Christ. What affects one part of the body affects the rest of the body. “
