Hon. Babatunde Oduyoye, a former Chief Whip in the House of Representatives on the platform of Alliance for Democracy (AD) ,has resigned his membership of the party which he joined 16 years ago. This was contained in a letter to the national chairman of AD, Senator Mojisoluwa Akinfenwa, dated 23 August 2014. In the letter entitled: “Review of Membership”, Oduyoye said: “Having remained loyal and committed to our AD dream all these 16 years, I have come to a conclusion that this is the time to move on as far as my relationship with the party is concerned.

“The Biblical Ecclesiastics confirms that there is time for everything; a time to sow and a time to reap; a time to embrace and a time to refrain from embracing. This, to me, is the time to review my membership of the AD. I have come to the conclusion that I have to, at this stage, alter the level of my contributions to the political discourse of not just my immediate constituency, but that of my state and the South-West generally.  I am assured that the stagnation our party has suffered in the last few years is fast becoming irredeemable and endemic. As such, there is every need to rethink the strategies at this stage if we are not to lose all our supporters to the rampaging hands. Let me assure you sir that my decision to change the colour of my political participation at this time will in no way affect my progressive outlook and my commitment to the uplift of our people in general.”
