The Court
of Appeal in Yola, Adamawa State has affirmed Governor Murtala Nyako’s
nomination as the candidate of the PDP in the last Governorship election
held in the state.
The Appeal Court upheld the ruling of a
lower court which had struck out a suit filed by Nyako’s political rival
in the PDP, Dr Umar Ardo, who had petitioned the court to cancel
Nyako’s candidacy in the 2011 poll.
The panel of judges struck
out Ardo’s appeal, saying he lacked the locus standi to challenge the
result of the primary of the party since he didn’t participate in it in
the first instance.
Ardo has however vowed to proceed to the Supreme Court to challenge the ruling of the Court of Appeal.
He told reporters in Yola that the court erred in dismissing his appeal.
