Like Voltron, Destiny's Child will come together once again to fight the usual doldrums of the Super Bowl halftime show.
US Weekly reports the lovely trio who once asked the world to "Say My Name" will reunite on pretty much the biggest stage there is, live at the Super Bowl halftime show.
The R&B superstar (Beyonce), 31 -- who is headlining the big event on Feb. 3 at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans -- will be joined onstage by her Destiny's Child bandmates Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams, multiple sources confirm to Us Weekly exclusively.
This is the kind of act that may work perfectly for the occasion. Since Janet Jackson's wardrobe fiasco, Super Bowl officials have done their best to steer clear of disaster, while making the performers older and far more male.
Since 2004, we have seen Paul McCartney, The Rolling Stones, Prince, Tom Petty, Bruce Springsteen and The Who.
It wasn't until a couple years ago that officials decided to go a bit more current with the Black Eyed Peas before reaching back for decades past with Madonna—a set featuring a middle-finger gesture of M.I.A. during the song "Give Me All Your Luvin'."
In this case, we get a bit of classic as well as some fantastic new.
The report issues that the superstar Beyonce will open the show by herself and will then be joined by pals Michelle Williams and Kelly Rowland.
The trio will deliver a greatest hits medley before performing a new single called, "Nuclear." From there, Beyonce will rock a finale and I am sure 100 percent of America will have been entertained.
In reality, the Super Bowl show is always a conundrum for the artists.
Half of the country will tune out at halftime to go flip burgers or watch something like the Puppy Bowl, the other half is split between those entranced by the melodies and the others who can't wait to blast the act, regardless of performance.
With all that being said, I am actually positive this will be a fine show, which is something I have not been so confident of in past years.
