Don’t be deterred by cynicism, Ribadu tells Nigerians

Former Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, on Wednesday urged Nigerians not to give up hope.
In a posting on FaceMallam Nuhu Ribadubook, Ribadu wrote, “We cannot be deterred by cynicism. We must not give in to our detractors. History always justifies the just.”
Although he did not elaborate, he may have been referring to his recent experience as chairman of the Petroleum Special Revenue Task Force, which submitted a controversial report on the oil industry to President Goodluck Jonathan on November 5.
At the submission ceremony, deputy chairman of the committee, Mr. Steve Oronsaye, and another member of the committee, Mike Otti, openly disagreed with Ribadu.
On November 9, one of Jonathan’s media aides, Dr. Doyin Okupe, said the Ribadu committee deviated from its terms of reference.
However, a member of the committee, Chief Olisa Agbakoba (SAN), said the controversy over the report was not sufficient to deter the Federal Government from acting on its contents.
