Osun state, better known as the state of the Living Spring is known to be excellent in promoting culture of the yorubas.
The Osun Entertainment Awards, first of its kind is a special project aimed to encourage and promote works and talents of Osun born artistes and Osun based artistes.
The Osun Entertainment Awards which took place in Osogbo on friday 20th June 2012 was witnessed by different kinds of people from the entertainment Industry. Dignitaries who graced the occasion were: HRH Oba Adedokun the Orangun Oke Ila, veteran broadcaster Olusola Ajala, Hon Sikiru Ayedun Adetoun honourable Commissioner for Home Affairs,culture & Tourism, Chief Lere Paimo
Dignitaries at the event were: Hon Sunday Akere Comm of information& Strategy, Assistant chief Barrister Adebisi Adejare, Prince Akin Matilo, The Dynamic Jazz Band entertaining people as Baba Eda Onile Ola and Toyin Adegbola and many others.
According to C.E.O/Project director Mr Adetunji Adebowale, the Osun Entertainment Awards is an value added events project that is poised to bring together Osun born artistes on the corridor of music, comedy,Dance,Disc Jockeying, Acting,production and entertainment management.
In addition, the project manager Mr Ajewole Gideon Olugbenga, disclosed that the Osun entertainment Awards is also the platform to appreciate Osun born artiste and their contribution to the entertainment industry in Nigeria.
The high peak of the event was when HRH Oba Adedokun the Orangun Oke Ila received an award on behalf of his Son 'Davido' and revealed that the song "Ema dami duro" was composed by his song to send a message to him as his father because he had wanted to stop Davido from singing. He therefore appealed to parents to support their children/wards in their chosen career. He encouraged youth to acquire skill and utilised their God given talents.
