The Nigerian military, under Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), has neutralised six terrorists, arrested 11 suspected collaborators and recorded the surrender of a Jama’atu Ahlis Sunna Lidda’awati wal-Jihad (JAS) member in separate counter-terrorism operations across Borno State.
The operations, conducted between October 24 and 25, 2026, also led to the recovery of arms, ammunition, mobile phones and other items linked to terrorist activities.
In a statement, the Acting Military Information Officer, Captain Mohammed Goni, said troops of the 29 Task Force Brigade Garrison, working with Hybrid Force personnel, ambushed ISWAP/JAS terrorists along the Targejeri axis of Kaga Local Government Area at about 12:37 a.m. on October 25, neutralising six terrorists.
Items recovered from the encounter included an AK-47 rifle, three magazines, 169 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, five mobile phones and charms.
In a related operation, troops arrested six additional suspected terrorist collaborators during a follow-up raid in Benisheikh town, Kaga LGA, at about 6:20 a.m. on October 24.
The latest arrests bring the number of suspects apprehended in connection with the investigation to 11, following the earlier arrest of five individuals.
Recovered items included an AK-47 rifle, three empty magazines, 169 rounds of ammunition, three terrorist uniforms, a turban, a head mask, mobile phones and charms.
The suspects are currently undergoing investigation to establish their alleged involvement in terrorist activities and identify other members of the network.
Meanwhile, troops of the 192 Battalion (Main), supported by Hybrid Force personnel deployed at Hambagda Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) Camp in Gwoza Local Government Area, received a JAS member who surrendered at about 9:20 p.m. on October 24.
Preliminary investigations indicated that the individual escaped from a terrorist enclave in the Gwoza area of the Mandara Mountains in a bid to abandon terrorism.
He surrendered with an AK-47 rifle and a magazine containing 28 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition.
The former terrorist is currently in custody for further investigation and processing.
The Theatre Command said the successes reflect sustained military pressure, operational readiness and effective coordination between OPHK troops and Hybrid Force personnel in degrading terrorist capabilities and disrupting their support networks.
It reaffirmed its commitment to intelligence-led operations across the North-East, while urging members of the public to provide credible and timely information to security agencies to support ongoing efforts to restore peace and stability in the region.
