The Lagos State Chapter of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) has embarked on a major roadshow to mobilise public support and raise awareness for the World Public Relations Forum (WPRF) 2026, scheduled to hold in Abuja from November 15 to 21.
The awareness campaign, which covered more than four kilometres across Lagos, attracted a large turnout of NIPR members and formed part of a nationwide mobilisation exercise conducted simultaneously by NIPR chapters across the 36 states.
Speaking during the roadshow, Chairman of the Lagos State NIPR, Dr. Samuel Ayetutu, described WPRF 2026 as a major global gathering of public relations and communication professionals.
Ayetutu said the forum would bring together practitioners, policymakers, academics, business executives, media professionals and other stakeholders to examine the evolving role of responsible communication in addressing global challenges.
He said the theme of the forum, “Responsible Communication: The Voice of the World,” would provide an opportunity to address the growing challenges of misinformation, disinformation, propaganda and other forms of communication that undermine public trust and deepen social divisions.
According to him, Nigeria’s hosting of the global forum would also provide an opportunity to showcase the country’s cultural heritage, creativity and hospitality, while promoting a stronger national narrative to an international audience.
“The World Public Relations Forum will enable Nigeria to tell its own story, highlight its enormous potential and deepen meaningful engagement between local professionals and their counterparts from around the world,” he said.
The Lagos NIPR chairman added that the forum would promote knowledge exchange, professional networking and international collaboration, while exposing Nigerian communication professionals and young practitioners to global best practices, emerging technologies and innovative approaches to reputation management.
The forum is also expected to boost Nigeria’s tourism and hospitality sectors by attracting international visitors and investment interest, while strengthening Abuja’s profile as a destination for major international conferences.
The Lagos State Chapter called on public relations practitioners, communication professionals, government institutions, private-sector organisations, academics, students and other stakeholders to participate actively in the forum.
The World Public Relations Forum 2026 will hold in Abuja from November 15 to 21, 2026.
