The Nigerian Navy has disowned a recruitment notice circulating on social media, purportedly announcing the 2026 Batch 39 recruitment exercise.
The Director of Naval Information, Captain Abiodun Folorunsho, said in a statement on Monday, September 21, 2026, that the circulating notice was not authorised by the Nigerian Navy and should not be regarded as an official recruitment announcement.
The Navy urged prospective applicants and members of the public to disregard recruitment information obtained from unofficial social media accounts, websites and other unauthorised sources. It said authentic information on eligibility requirements, application procedures, timelines and recruitment categories would only be released through its authorised communication channels.
The Navy also warned members of the public against making payments to individuals, agents or unauthorised platforms in connection with recruitment, stressing that the exercise is free of charge and that no third party has been authorised to recruit applicants or collect fees on its behalf.
The Navy said official recruitment information would be published through its recruitment portal, joinnigeriannavy.navy.mil.ng, and its official website, navy.mil.ng, as part of efforts to maintain a transparent and credible recruitment process.
