Nigerian military aircraft operating under Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK) have destroyed several terrorist structures and logistics facilities and neutralised approximately 18 terrorists during an air interdiction operation in the Tumbunma Baba area of the Tumbuns in Borno State.The operation was conducted at about 6:05 a.m. on September 11, 2026, following intelligence indicating that a high-profile meeting involving terrorist elements was taking place on the islands.
Military sources said the operation was launched after confirmatory intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR) missions conducted on September 9 identified several terrorist structures and logistics hubs within the area.
Following confirmation of the targets, the aircraft reportedly engaged the identified locations with onboard munitions, destroying several structures and logistics facilities.
The strikes also resulted in the neutralisation of about 18 terrorists believed to be operating from the enclave.
Military assessment indicated that the operation achieved an estimated 85 per cent success rate, with further air interdiction recommended to consolidate the gains and disrupt surviving terrorist elements.
The latest operation forms part of the military’s sustained air and ground campaign to degrade terrorist networks, dismantle their logistics infrastructure and restrict their ability to move, regroup and coordinate operations within the Tumbuns.
The operation underscores the continued use of intelligence-led air power by the Nigerian military to target terrorist concentrations and their support infrastructure in the North-East.
