Four family members of suspected terrorists, including an eight-month-old infant, at about 1:35 p.m. on Sept. 6 have surrendered to troops of 192 Battalion (M) along the Gwoza–Limankara road in Borno State.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the four individuals escaped from the Hiduwa terrorist enclave in the Mandara Mountains, within Gwoza Local Government Area of the state.

The surrendered persons reportedly told troops that the lack of basic necessities in the terrorist camp forced them to leave the enclave and seek safety.

The individuals and the infant are currently under the care and custody of the troops as authorities conduct further screening and investigation.- By Zagazola Makama
