The Nigerian Army has successfully conducted the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Welfare Flight for August 2026, airlifting hundreds of personnel into and out of the North-East theatre of operations.

Security sources told Zagazola Makama that the first welfare flight for the month was carried out on Aug. 1 using a chartered ValueJet aircraft.

According to the sources, the flight conveyed 177 personnel into the Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK) theatre, while 175 personnel were airlifted out, bringing the total number of passengers moved during the operation to 352.

The latest movement increased the cumulative number of personnel transported into and out of the OPHK theatre under the COAS Welfare Flight initiative to 34,466.

The welfare flight programme is designed to ease the movement of troops serving in the counter-insurgency theatre, improve personnel welfare and enhance operational efficiency by facilitating timely deployment and rotation of military personnel.

Military authorities said the movement was conducted successfully without any incident.
