A woman believed to be a family member of an ISWAP  fighter, accompanied by her child, has surrendered to troops of Operation HADIN KAI after escaping from a terrorist enclave in the Sambisa Forest.

Intelligence sources told Zagazola Makama that the pair surrendered at about 12:00 p.m. on July 17 to troops of the 26 Task Force Brigade Garrison in Gwoza Local Government Area of Borno State.

According to the sources, the woman and her child escaped from the Gobara terrorist enclave located within the Sambisa Forest before making their way to the military position to surrender.

The surrendered individuals are currently undergoing profiling and preliminary screening in line with established military procedures to determine their status and obtain any relevant intelligence that could support ongoing counter-insurgency operations.

Military authorities said the development reflects the sustained pressure being mounted on terrorist enclaves in the Sambisa Forest, which continues to compel insurgents and their family members to abandon the group and surrender to security forces.
