The Delta State Police Command has arrested two suspected criminals and recovered two Beretta pistols, live ammunition, suspected cocaine, and other incriminating items during a stop-and-search operation along the Agbarho–Warri Road.
According to a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, the operation was carried out by operatives of the Safer Highway Patrol on July 25, 2026.
The suspects, identified as Omini Ezeri, 46, and Chinedum Wagbara, 42, both residents of Port Harcourt, Rivers State, were intercepted while travelling in a grey Mercedes-Benz ML SUV with registration number AAA 604 JZ.
Police said that during preliminary interrogation, a third occupant of the vehicle, identified as God Knows Ifreke, suddenly fled the scene, escaping into a nearby swamp.
A search of the vehicle led to the recovery of two locally fabricated Beretta pistols loaded with nine rounds of live ammunition, about 200 grams of a substance suspected to be cocaine, one walkie-talkie, one dagger, one grinder, and two sophisticated mobile phones.
The two suspects are currently in police custody, while efforts have been intensified to apprehend the fleeing suspect.
Commending the operatives for their vigilance and professionalism, the Commissioner of Police, Delta State Command, CP Yemi Oyeniyi, reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to combating crime across the state.
He stated that the Police would continue to intensify operations to ensure Delta remains hostile to criminals, illegal firearms traffickers, and drug dealers, while urging residents to provide timely and credible information to support ongoing security efforts.
