Troops of Operation HADIN KAI have sustained intense counter-terrorism operations across Borno State, rescuing 13 kidnapped and vulnerable civilians, arresting multiple terrorist logistics suppliers and collaborators, and intercepting a suspected foreign spy in a series of intelligence-led operations conducted between 10 and 15 July 2026.
The operations were disclosed by the Director, Defence Media Operations, Major General Michael Onoja, said this in a weekly press statement on ongoing military operations across the country covering 10 to 16 July 2026.
According to the Defence Headquarters, on 10 July, four family members of Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorists surrendered to troops in Gwoza Local Government Area after escaping from Kunde near the Mandara Mountains.
On the same day, troops arrested a suspected terrorist logistics supplier, Mohammed Goni, at the Molai entrance gate in Jere Local Government Area.
On 11 July, troops arrested another suspected terrorist collaborator, Janyu Alhaji Mamman, in Monguno, following intelligence obtained from an earlier suspect already in military custody.
Between 12 and 13 July, six additional family members of terrorists surrendered to troops deployed in Pulka, Gwoza and along the Gwoza–Limankara Road.
The military also intercepted another suspected terrorist logistics supplier at a checkpoint along the Mandaragirau–Biu Road in Biu Local Government Area.
In a related development, troops arrested a suspected foreign spy, Abubakar Mohammed Zen, at Mallam Fatori in Abadam Local Government Area. The suspect claimed to be a citizen of the Republic of Niger and is currently undergoing investigation.
On 15 July, troops intercepted two additional suspected terrorist logistics suppliers along Kauji Road in Damboa Local Government Area. On the same day, another suspected logistics supplier, Ali Umar, was arrested in Gubio Local Government Area after allegedly confessing to supplying petroleum products to terrorists.
Beyond the arrests, troops also recorded significant success in rescue operations.
On 10 July, soldiers successfully repelled terrorists attempting to infiltrate Muna Garage, Shuwari Village and the Ajilari axis in Jere Local Government Area. A follow-up exploitation operation led to the recovery of the corpse of one terrorist.
The same day, troops rescued kidnapped victim Usman Hassan, who had been abducted in Bauchi State in April 2026, and reunited him with his family. Another abductee, Aisha Mohammed, was also rescued during the operation.
On 11 July, troops rescued two civilians around Armuda Bridge in Gwoza Local Government Area and handed them over to the Ngoshe Community Head.
The rescue efforts continued on 15 July, when troops freed four women and five children near Armuda Bridge. The victims received immediate medical attention for minor injuries from military medical personnel before being reunited with the community leadership.
The Defence Headquarters reaffirmed that troops of Operation HADIN KAI remain committed to sustaining pressure on Boko Haram and ISWAP terrorists, while protecting civilians and restoring lasting peace across the North-East.
