Troops of the Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA (OPFY), have sustained intensified offensive operations against terrorists and their collaborators across the North West, recording the neutralisation of terrorists, arrest of collaborators, and the rescue of kidnapped victims in Zamfara and Kebbi States.
The Director Defence Media Operations, Major General Michael Onoja, disclosed this in a statement highlighting the Armed Forces of Nigeria’s ongoing military operations for the period covering 10 to 16 July 2026.
According to the statement, on 11 July 2026, troops intercepted a suspected terrorist collaborator who was transiting from Dunfami village to Birnin Magaji Local Government Area of Zamfara State.
The following day, 12 July, troops arrested another terrorist collaborator at Sakajiki village in Kaura Namoda Local Government Area of Zamfara State and recovered a motorcycle from the suspect.
On 13 July, troops successfully repelled a terrorist attack at Mokurata village in Danko Wasagu Local Government Area of Kebbi State, neutralising two terrorists during the encounter.
Operations continued on 14 July, when troops engaged terrorists who had infiltrated Bukkuyum town in Zamfara State, killing one of the attackers.
In another operation on the same day, troops rescued eight civilian hostages and recovered two vehicles after responding to an attack on commuters at Ungwan Rogo village in Kaura Namoda Local Government Area of Zamfara State.
Also on 14 July, troops raided a terrorist camp near Tungan Kudaduku village in Anka Local Government Area of Zamfara State, rescuing five abducted victims from captivity.
On 15 July, troops rescued Mahadi Haruna, who had earlier been abducted from his father’s farm at Barza village in Zurmi Local Government Area of Zamfara State. He was safely reunited with his family without injuries.
The Armed Forces of Nigeria reaffirmed their commitment to sustaining offensive operations across the North West until terrorist and criminal elements are decisively defeated, while urging members of the public to continue supporting security agencies with credible and timely intelligence.
