Operation FANSAN YAMMA Commander Commends Leadership at Command Science Secondary School, Gusau

The Theatre Commander of Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA (OPFY), Major General WB Idris, has lauded the Commandant of Command Science Secondary School (Girls), Gusau, Major F. Jimoh, for her transformational leadership and commitment to improving educational standards and infrastructure at the institution.

Major General Idris gave the commendation during a visit to the school on Friday, July 17, 2026, where he assessed facilities and interacted with the management, staff and students.

According to a statement by the Media Information Officer, Joint Task Force (North West) Operation FANSAN YAMMA, Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja, the Theatre Commander was received by the Commandant, who presented a comprehensive briefing on the school’s achievements, current state and existing challenges.

Commending the progress recorded within Major Jimoh’s relatively short tenure, Major General Idris described education as a vital pillar for national development and the moral upbringing of future generations, particularly the children of military personnel.

He urged the school management to sustain the current pace of development by addressing emerging issues promptly before they escalate, while also applauding members of staff for their dedication and collective support that has contributed to the school’s achievements.

Addressing the students, the Theatre Commander encouraged them to remain disciplined, focused and committed to academic excellence.

“The future of this country lies in your hands. You must therefore study diligently so that you will be well prepared to contribute meaningfully to the development of our nation,” he told the students.

Major General Idris also stressed the importance of hard work and integrity, urging the students to strive for admission into reputable higher institutions and become responsible leaders of tomorrow.

As part of the visit, the Theatre Commander inspected critical facilities within the school, including staff quarters, students’ hostels, dining halls and places of worship. He approved immediate interventions to address some pressing needs and assured the management that more critical issues would be escalated to higher authorities for necessary action.

The visit featured an interactive session with staff and students, presentation of souvenirs, a vote of thanks by the students’ representative and a group photograph.

The Theatre Commander was accompanied by the Deputy Theatre Commander, Air Vice Marshal UK Abdullahi; the Commanding Officer, Administration Battalion, Lieutenant Colonel S.A. Ochala; and other senior officers of Headquarters Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA.
