The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, has commissioned the Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja Complex at the Nigerian Army College of Logistics and Management (NACOLM), Lagos, reaffirming the Nigerian Army’s commitment to strengthening institutional capacity through modern infrastructure.

The commissioning ceremony, held on Friday, July 17, 2026, underscores the Army’s drive to enhance professional military education, improve administrative efficiency, and boost personnel welfare in support of national security.

Named in honour of the late Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja, the newly commissioned complex is designed to expand the College’s training, administrative and welfare capabilities, while providing a conducive environment for developing highly skilled logistics professionals to support operational effectiveness across the Nigerian Army.

Speaking at the event, Lieutenant General Shaibu paid glowing tribute to the late Army Chief, describing him as an exceptional military leader whose professionalism, integrity, selfless service and unwavering dedication to national duty continue to inspire officers and soldiers.

The COAS said dedicating the facility to the late General Lagbaja reflects the Nigerian Army’s enduring appreciation of his remarkable contributions to force development, leadership and operational excellence.

He also urged officers, instructors and students of NACOLM to emulate the values exemplified by the late Army Chief by remaining disciplined, professional and committed to excellence in the discharge of their responsibilities.

Lieutenant General Shaibu further stressed that sustained investment in training institutions, modern infrastructure and personnel welfare remains central to his command philosophy of transforming the Nigerian Army into a more professional, adaptive, combat-ready and resilient force capable of effectively carrying out its constitutional responsibilities within a joint and multi-agency operational environment.

The commissioning of the Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja Complex marks another milestone in the Nigerian Army’s ongoing efforts to strengthen institutional capacity and enhance the readiness of its personnel to effectively address the country’s evolving security challenges.
