39 More Nigerians Return from South Africa as Final Evacuation Flight Expected Next Week

The Federal Government has announced that 39 more Nigerian nationals are returning home from Johannesburg, South Africa, on an emergency evacuation flight facilitated by Air Peace.

The flight, scheduled to arrive at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA), Lagos, at 8:50 p.m. on Friday, July 10, 2026, was arranged to accommodate Nigerians who were unable to board Thursday’s evacuation flight.

According to the update, the emergency arrangement is aimed at ensuring there is no disruption or spillover from the ongoing series of pre-scheduled evacuation flights for Nigerian nationals who completed their travel documentation within the stipulated deadline.

The government expressed appreciation to the management of Air Peace for its collaboration and support in facilitating the additional evacuation exercise.

Authorities also disclosed that the final evacuation flight, expected to bring home about 300 Nigerian nationals, is scheduled to arrive in the country next week, concluding the evacuation exercise prompted by the ongoing xenophobic attacks in South Africa.

The Federal Government reaffirmed that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, remains committed to the welfare, protection and safe return of Nigerians affected by the xenophobic incidents in South Africa.
