Troops of Sector 1, Operation ENDURING PEACE (OPEP), working in collaboration with members of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), have arrested two suspected members of the notorious Sara-Suka gang in Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau State.
Security sources disclosed that the operation was carried out at about 12:30 a.m. on May 29 following reports of violent disturbances allegedly orchestrated by members of the group around the Rikkos and New Market areas of Jos.
According to the sources, residents raised alarm over the activities of the suspected gang members, prompting a swift response from security operatives.
The joint security team mobilised to the affected locations and conducted a targeted operation that led to the arrest of two suspects. Several other suspected gang members reportedly fled the scene upon sighting the approaching security personnel.
The arrested suspects are currently in custody and undergoing preliminary investigation to determine their level of involvement in the disturbances and other related criminal activities.
Security authorities said efforts are ongoing to track down and apprehend the fleeing suspects, while measures have been put in place to prevent further disturbances in the area.
They reiterated their commitment to sustaining peace, maintaining law and order, and ensuring the safety of residents across Jos North Local Government Area and surrounding communities.
The operation forms part of ongoing efforts by security agencies to curb gang-related violence and criminal activities in Plateau State.
