The Nigerian Navy has inducted 1,924 trainees into the Basic Training School, Onne, as part of activities marking the commencement of Batch 38 foundational training.
The induction ceremony, held under the leadership of the Commandant, Rear Admiral Abdulrahman Mohammed, signals the start of rigorous military training aimed at producing disciplined and mission-ready sailors for the service.
Ahead of the trainees’ resumption, the school organised a capacity-building workshop for instructors to enhance training effectiveness. The workshop focused on modern instructional techniques, alignment with established naval doctrine, and improved performance standards to ensure quality delivery.
Addressing the new trainees, Rear Admiral Mohammed stressed the importance of discipline, professionalism, and adherence to military values. He reiterated a strict zero-tolerance policy for drug abuse and misconduct, warning that violators would face appropriate sanctions.
He further underscored the critical role of high-quality training in shaping competent naval personnel capable of meeting contemporary security challenges.
The Nigerian Navy said the combined approach of strengthening instructor capacity and maintaining high training standards reflects its commitment to building a highly skilled and operationally effective force.
