The Commissioner of Police in Delta State, Yemi Oyeniyi, has reaffirmed the commitment of the Delta State Police Command to sustaining peaceful democratic processes through strengthened collaboration with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
The police commissioner stated this on Thursday, May 14, 2026, while receiving the Resident Electoral Commissioner of Independent National Electoral Commission in Delta State, Sir Etekamba Udo Umoren, during a courtesy visit to the Command Headquarters in Asaba.
According to the Command, the visit focused on enhancing cooperation between the Police and INEC in the areas of election security, public safety, and the maintenance of peace before, during, and after elections in the state.
CP Oyeniyi stressed the importance of synergy among security agencies and electoral stakeholders in ensuring credible and violence-free elections, noting that the Police would continue to provide the necessary support for the protection of electoral personnel, materials, and voters.
On his part, Sir Etekamba Udo Umoren commended the Delta State Police Command for its role in maintaining security and supporting electoral activities across the state.
The meeting also highlighted the need for sustained collaboration, intelligence sharing, and proactive measures aimed at strengthening public confidence in the electoral process and ensuring peaceful democratic participation in Delta State.
