The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, has celebrated the Eid-el-Kabir festival with troops of the 4 Brigade Nigerian Army at the Forward Operating Base (FOB) Ehor in Uhunmwonde Local Government Area of Edo State, commending their sacrifices and dedication to national security.

The special Sallah luncheon, held on Thursday, was organised to honour troops serving on the frontlines and boost their morale as they continue operations against terrorism, insurgency, banditry, kidnapping, oil theft and other criminal activities across the country.

Speaking through the Commander, 4 Brigade Nigerian Army, Brigadier General Ahmed Balogun, the COAS described Eid-el-Kabir as a festival that embodies the values of sacrifice, faith and reflection, virtues he said align closely with the military profession.

He praised the troops for their loyalty, courage, resilience and unwavering commitment, noting that their efforts have contributed significantly to the successes recorded in ongoing security operations nationwide.

“The nation remains proud of your selfless service and dedication towards safeguarding Nigeria’s sovereignty and territorial integrity,” he said.

Lieutenant General Shaibu also reassured personnel of his commitment to addressing welfare concerns affecting soldiers and members of the Nigerian Army community. He urged them to continue upholding the core values and professional standards of the Nigerian Army.

The Army Chief further expressed appreciation to President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for his continued support to the Armed Forces, particularly in the areas of welfare, operational effectiveness and institutional development.

Earlier, the Officer Commanding FOB Ehor, Captain Ahmad Mohammed, said the luncheon provided an opportunity for troops to reaffirm their commitment to duty while drawing inspiration from one another.

He commended the leadership of Brigadier General Balogun for his guidance and encouragement, which he said had motivated troops to maintain excellence in their operations.

The event was attended by representatives of the Uhunmwonde Local Government Council, traditional rulers and heads of security agencies in the area.

Highlights of the celebration included a special luncheon, cultural dance performances, presentation of souvenirs and morale-boosting songs by the troops.
