The Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Sunday Kelvin Aneke, has called for renewed national commitment towards raising disciplined, responsible and resilient boys capable of contributing meaningfully to Nigeria’s development and security.

In a message marking the 2026 International Day of the Boy Child, Air Marshal Aneke emphasized the importance of mentorship, positive masculinity and emotional support for boys amid increasing societal challenges confronting young people.

Reflecting on the 2026 theme, “Flourish & Thrive: Investing in Boys for Stronger Families and Communities,” the CAS noted that Nigerian boys face growing threats including crime, substance abuse, cybercrime, violent extremism and negative peer influence.

He stressed that ongoing conversations around “Breaking the Silence: Boys and Mental Health” as well as “Boys for Integrity” are essential to shaping morally grounded, confident and responsible young men.

According to the CAS, the Nigerian Air Force remains committed to youth development through its educational institutions, including NAF Secondary Schools and Military School, which he said continue to instill discipline, leadership and academic excellence in young boys.

Air Marshal Aneke also highlighted several youth empowerment initiatives introduced under his leadership, particularly in areas such as information technology, vocational training, entrepreneurship, aviation-related trades and heavy equipment operations.

He explained that the programmes are designed to promote self-reliance among youths and reduce their vulnerability to criminal activities and extremist recruitment.

The CAS urged Nigerian boys to embrace discipline, integrity, patriotism and hard work while rejecting anti-social behaviour and other negative influences capable of undermining their future.

He further reassured Nigerians of the Air Force’s continued commitment to programmes and initiatives aimed at empowering young people and building stronger families, safer communities and a more secure nation.
