The Commissioner of Police, Delta State Command, CP Yemi Oyeniyi, has conducted an on-the-spot assessment of security deployments at designated Computer-Based Test (CBT) centres in Asaba metropolis, as part of efforts to ensure a safe and hitch-free Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) across the state.

The inspection, carried out on Friday, April 17, 2026, aligns with the directive of the Inspector-General of Police and forms part of the Command’s visibility policing strategy aimed at guaranteeing a secure and orderly environment for candidates, officials, and other stakeholders.

In a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, the Commissioner of Police toured several centres, where he evaluated security arrangements, interacted with officers on duty, and stressed the importance of professionalism, vigilance, and courteous conduct while engaging the public.

CP Oyeniyi also met with officials of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), commending them for the smooth conduct of the examination. He assured them of the Command’s readiness to respond promptly to any security concerns, urging them to report issues without hesitation.

He emphasised that officers deployed to the centres were tasked with safeguarding both candidates and examination officials throughout the exercise.

The Police Commissioner expressed satisfaction with the level of compliance with earlier directives on adequate personnel deployment and reiterated that Area Commanders and Divisional Police Officers must sustain effective supervision during the examination period.
