The Anambra State Police Command has kicked off activities for the 2026 National Police Day celebration with a statewide sanitation exercise and a free medical outreach designed to promote public health and strengthen police-community relations.

The Command’s spokesperson, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, said the exercise was carried out across the state’s eight Area Commands and 56 Divisional Police Headquarters, with officers and men actively participating in environmental sanitation efforts.

He said the exercise highlighted the importance of maintaining a clean and healthy environment as part of broader public safety efforts.

In addition to the sanitation exercise, the Command also organised a free medical outreach, during which police officers and residents benefited from basic health checks and medical consultations.

Ikenga said the initiative reflects the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force not only to ensuring security but also to contributing to the overall well-being of citizens.

He added that the Commissioner of Police, Anambra State Command, CP Ikioye Orutugu, noted that the activities form part of a wider lineup of programmes scheduled to mark National Police Day on April 7, 2026.

According to him, the Commissioner emphasised that the Command remains committed to community-oriented policing and will continue to pursue initiatives that build trust, cooperation, and collaboration between the police and the public.

The Command also urged residents to continue supporting the police in their efforts to maintain peace and security across the state.
