The opening day of the cricket competition at the ongoing 15th Biennial Police Games (BIPOGA 2026) on Monday, February 16, 2026, delivered exciting and closely contested matches in the male category, as teams battled for early supremacy.

A total of eight matches were played, with intense rivalries and dramatic finishes highlighting the day’s action. Two fixtures are, however, left to be decided.

One of the most thrilling encounters saw the Force Headquarters (FHQ) edge past Zone 8 after both teams finished 39-39 in regulation time. The match was decided through a super over, where FHQ scored eight runs against Zone 8’s four to secure a dramatic victory.

Zone 13 began its campaign on a strong note, recording a narrow 30-29 win over Zone 2 in a tightly contested match. Despite the loss, Zone 2 bounced back with determination to defeat Zone 10 by 18 runs to 12.

Zone 10 also demonstrated resilience, claiming a hard-fought 23-18 victory over FHQ. However, the team later suffered a setback after losing 28-22 to the in-form Zone 13.

Maintaining its impressive run, Zone 13 secured another narrow win, defeating FHQ 27-25 to further strengthen its position at the top of the table. Meanwhile, Zone 10 outclassed Zone 8 with a convincing 30-16 result.

In the final game of the day, Zone 2 defeated Zone 8 by 36 runs to 29 to keep its hopes alive in the competition.

At the end of Day One, Zone 13 leads the standings with three wins, followed by Zone 10 and Zone 2 with two wins each. FHQ has recorded one win, while Zone 8 is yet to secure a victory.

Action resumes today, Tuesday, February 17, 2026, with six matches scheduled in the female category, alongside the remaining two male fixtures. The presentation of medals is expected to take place immediately after the final game of the day.
