The Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ), Edo State Council, has commended the 4 Brigade Nigerian Army for its combat readiness and sustained efforts in tackling insecurity across the state
The commendation was given by the Edo State NUJ Chairman, Dr Festus Alenkhe, when he led members of the Union on a courtesy visit to the Brigade Headquarters in Benin City on Tuesday, 10 February 2026.
Speaking during the visit, Dr Alenkhe said the Union had closely monitored the achievements of the Brigade Commander since his assumption of office, noting that the relative peace currently enjoyed in Edo State could be attributed to the constant combat preparedness and professionalism of troops under his command.
He praised the Brigade’s sustained operations aimed at restoring peace and stability, while underscoring the need to further strengthen collaboration between the military and journalists to enhance effective media relations and public awareness.
In his response, the Commander, 4 Brigade Nigerian Army, Brigadier General Ahmed Balogun, expressed appreciation to the NUJ leadership for what he described as a timely and significant visit. He acknowledged the critical role of the media in shaping public perception and deepening public understanding of military operations.
The Brigade Commander assured the Union of the Army’s continued support and reaffirmed the Brigade’s commitment to partnering with the NUJ to promote peace, professionalism, and accurate information management and dissemination across Edo State.
The visit, according to both parties, marks another step toward strengthening civil–military relations and fostering a shared commitment to peace and security in the state.
