The visit, which took place at the Division Conference Room, was aimed at assessing engineering operations, strengthening professional synergy, and improving operational effectiveness within the 8 Division Area of Responsibility.

According to a press statement issued by Lieutenant Colonel Olaniyi Osoba, Acting Deputy Director, Army Public Relations, 8 Division Nigerian Army/Sector 2 Operation FANSAN YAMMA, the CCE held extensive engagements with the GOC and senior officers on critical operational activities, engineering support for ongoing missions, and infrastructural developments across formations and units under the Division’s command.

He emphasized the pivotal role of the Corps of Engineers in providing combat engineering support, maintaining infrastructure, and enhancing troop mobility and survivability in both peace and operational environments.

The CCE commended Major General Koughna for his exemplary leadership and the Division’s notable achievements, particularly in the effective utilisation of engineering resources in support of operational tasks. He reaffirmed the Corps’ commitment to addressing operational challenges through capacity development, timely interventions, training, and the provision of essential engineering equipment.

In his response, Major General Koughna expressed appreciation for the visit, describing it as a timely and strategic step towards strengthening cooperation between the Corps of Engineers and the Division. He highlighted ongoing operational demands, infrastructural requirements, and the indispensable contributions of engineer units to mission success. The GOC further reiterated the Division’s resolve to optimise the deployment and maintenance of engineering assets in pursuit of operational objectives.
