The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has applauded the courage and professionalism of two Alpha Jet pilots who successfully ejected after their aircraft encountered an in-flight emergency during a post-inspection test flight at NAF Base Kainji on Saturday, 6 December 2025.

According to Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, Director of Public Relations and Information, the aircraft developed a sudden malfunction shortly after take-off. The pilots, demonstrating exceptional calm and precision, steered the jet away from residential areas before executing a safe ejection. Both officers are currently undergoing routine medical evaluation.

The Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, commended the pilots for their “courage, discipline and sound judgement,” noting that their actions averted potential casualties. He has also ordered the immediate setup of a Board of Inquiry to determine the cause of the incident.

The Nigerian Air Force reassured the public of its commitment to the highest safety standards and operational excellence, emphasizing its dedication to protecting citizens and safeguarding personnel in line with its constitutional mandate.
