The Commissioner of Police in Anambra State, CP Ikioye Orutugu, has called on Anambra indigenes both within and outside Nigeria to return home for the Christmas celebrations, assuring them that the state remains one of the safest and most peaceful in the country.
Speaking in Awka, CP Orutugu said the prevailing calm and order in the state are products of effective policing, community cooperation, and citizens’ commitment to peace. He emphasized that Anambra’s growing stability has paved the way for greater economic activity and renewed investor confidence.
“Anambra thrives on trade and commerce. Safety attracts investors. If the people are safe, the economy will flourish,” the Police Commissioner stated. He noted that peace and security go hand in hand with development, urging residents to sustain the atmosphere of calm across the state.
Describing Anambra as “a shining example that Nigeria can get it right,” CP Orutugu said the recent peaceful governorship election further confirmed that security and community collaboration can produce credible and violence-free outcomes.
“The Anambra election has shown that with the right attitude and community cooperation, elections can be peaceful, credible, and uncontroversial,” he added. “Anambra is safe — and it is the people who made it so.”
The Police Commissioner therefore encouraged Anambraians in the diaspora and other parts of the country to visit their families and communities this Christmas season without fear, assuring that the Police Command has put in place robust security measures to guarantee their safety throughout the festive period.
