In a shocking turn of events, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has uncovered a staged kidnapping allegedly orchestrated by two sisters and their accomplices in Abuja. The criminal plot was aimed at extorting the sum of ₦5 million from their unsuspecting father.
According to a statement released by the FCT Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, the case began on 30th July 2025 when one Mr. Innocent, a resident of Jikwoyi Phase II, reported that his 16-year-old daughter, Miss Lead Way Innocent, had gone missing after leaving home to write an exam at Government Secondary School, Karu. He later received a distressing call from unknown individuals demanding ransom for her release.
Acting swiftly on the report, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Jikwoyi Division launched a discreet investigation. Intelligence gathering and digital tracking led operatives to a residence in Jikwoyi Phase II, where the supposedly abducted Lead Way was found in the company of Mrs. Tina Mayowa, calmly eating and chatting.
Further police investigation revealed a carefully planned conspiracy involving Lead Way’s elder sister, Miss Joy Innocent, and her boyfriend, Mr. Mayowa Adedeji—who is legally married to Mrs. Mayowa. It was uncovered that Lead Way was not only aware of the plan but had actively participated, remaining hidden for days while her father and family were thrown into emotional turmoil.
The four suspects—Joy, Lead Way, Mr. Adedeji, and his wife Tina—have all confessed to the crime and are currently in custody. The police confirmed they will be charged to court after the conclusion of investigations.
FCT Commissioner of Police, CP Ajao Sunday Adewale, described the act as a “grave betrayal” and warned that exploiting family relationships for criminal gain will not be tolerated. He urged parents to foster open and honest communication at home and to closely monitor their children's behavioral patterns.
