Troops Neutralize 12 ISWAP Fighters, Recover Weapons in Borno Offensive

Nigerian troops under Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK), in collaboration with local security outfits, have neutralized 12 fighters of the Islamic State of West Africa Province (ISWAP) in a series of coordinated offensives across parts of Borno State.

The targeted operations, conducted between August 29 and 30 and supported by the Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) platform of the Air Component Command, cleared terrorist enclaves in Tamsu Ngamdu, Dalakaleri, and Gaza.

According to military sources, the fiercest encounter occurred at Loskori Kura, where troops engaged insurgents in a prolonged gun battle, leaving 12 terrorists dead.

Recovered items included eight AK-47 rifles, eight loaded magazines of 7.62mm ammunition, as well as drugs and medical supplies believed to be used by the insurgents.

Military authorities commended the gallantry of the troops, noting that the renewed vigor in counter-terrorism operations is yielding significant results. The Theatre Command has been urged to sustain the momentum in order to consolidate the gains recorded.
