As part of his command philosophy, a soldier First slogan which prioritises a well-motivated and combat-ready force, the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, has restated his commitment to the welfare of personnel of the Nigerian Army through sustained investment in affordable and accessible housing initiatives under the Post Service Housing Development Limited (PHDL).

This reaffirmation came during a media interaction in Abuja, where the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Post Service Housing Development Limited (PHDL), Major General Isaiah Allison, highlighted the strides made by the organisation in line with the COAS’s welfare-driven command philosophy, which prioritises a well-motivated and combat-ready force.

According to Maj. Gen. Allison, Post Service Housing Development Limited's flagship initiative — Affordable Home Ownership Option for All Soldiers — is designed to cater to all ranks within the Nigerian Army. 

The scheme provides two-bedroom apartments for soldiers of the rank of corporal and below, while three-bedroom apartments are allocated to sergeants and above.

“Our goal is not just to provide homes at retirement, but to empower our soldiers to become homeowners while still in active service,” the MD stated, adding that this initiative reinforces the Army’s commitment to the long-term stability and dignity of its personnel.

In her remarks, the Acting Public Relations Officer of Post Service Housing Development Limited, Lieutenant Augustina Nkeonye, commended the media for their ongoing support in projecting the agency’s housing initiatives. 

She called for a stronger partnership with journalists in amplifying the success stories of the Nigerian Army’s housing efforts, which she described as critical to national development and the morale of military personnel.

“The Post Service Housing Development Limited is not just building houses; we are building futures and promoting security for the families of those who serve our nation,” she said.

PHDL continues to expand its housing footprints across the country, delivering quality residential units that support the Nigerian Army’s broader agenda of personnel welfare and post-service reintegration.
