Nigeria Police Force To Mark Maiden National Police Day, April 7

The Nigeria Police Force is set to mark its maiden National Police Day to pay tribute to NPF fallen heroes, police officers who have demonstrated exceptional dedication to the point of paying the supreme price of laying their lives down for the protection of the nation while in the line of duty.  

At a press briefing today, 2nd April 2025, the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi announced that the Nigeria Police Force is set to host the maiden edition of National Police Day on Monday 7th April, 2025 - Grand Parade/Procession at Eagle Square, Abuja 

It would be recall that President Tinubu was represented by Vice President Kashim Shettima at the maiden edition of the award ceremony of the Nigeria Police Awards and Commendations held at the Congress Hall, Transcorp Hilton, Abuja declared the first week of April as police week and the last day of the week April 7 as National Police Day.

President Tinubu said this would ensure that police officers were equipped with the knowledge, skills, values, and expertise required to tackle the complex challenges of modern policing, and the government would upgrade equipment and technology to enhance operational effectiveness and efficiency of the force.

According to the President, Nigeria Police force exemplary valour doesn’t only represent the pinnacle of patriotism that binds us but also instills confidence that brighter days lies just beyond the horizon.

Addressing Journalists today, the Force PRO noted that this historic event, which will run from April 2 to April 7, 2025, will feature a series of impactful humanitarian and community-based activities, including medical outreaches, community engagements, exhibitions by security companies and partners, among other programs aimed at fostering stronger police-community relations. 

ACP Adejobi noted that the national police day is designed to celebrate the dedication, sacrifices, and achievements of the Nigeria police force in ensuring national security. He said it will provide a platform to recognize the forces by voter rule, its regarding lives and property, while reinforcing public trust and collaboration in maintaining law and order and the event is expected to host government officials, community leaders, representatives of ministries, departments and agencies and these are key stakeholders from various sectors.

The celebration which is part of corporate social responsibility from the police and for people to feel as part of the police as they reach out to them in their various commands and formations. 

The National Police Day according to the Force PRO, stands as a testament to the resilience, dedication, and courage of police personnel and serves as an inspiration for future generations to uphold the highest ideals of service and integrity.
