The Kano State Police Command, under the leadership of Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, is issuing a public alert due to recent fire incidents at some locations, including company, market place, residential home and gas station, etc.
Police Public Relations Officer,SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, in a press statement said collaborative analysis of these incidents with Fire Experts have attributed them to the sudden increase in atmospheric temperature and negligence. This poses a significant threat to the protection of lives and property in the state.
In all instances, the Kano State Police Command in liaison with the Federal and State Fire Services provided emergency responses to save lives and protect property
The Kano State Police Command urges the public to exercise caution and adhere to preventive measures to mitigate the risk of fire outbreaks. We recommend the following:
- *Obtain necessary equipment*: Ensure that fire extinguishers are installed at accessible locations in homes, offices, and businesses.
- *Conduct regular maintenance*: Regularly inspect electrical appliances, wiring, and gas cylinders to prevent potential fire hazards.
- *Switch off electrical appliances*: Switch off electrical appliances in offices at closing and in homes when not in use to prevent overheating and potential fires.
- *Be prepared*: Develop a fire evacuation plan and conduct regular drills to ensure preparedness in case of a fire emergency.
- *Report incidents*: Immediately report any fire incidents or suspicious activities to the nearest police station or emergency services.
