The Chief of Defence Staff, CDS, General Christopher Gwabin Musa has reaffirmed that there is no foreign military base in Nigeria contrary to what has been circulating in the media space due to recent visit of President Tinubu in France where a lot of bilateral agreements were signed.

General Musa made this assertion today while unveiling the Armed Forces of Nigeria 2025 Tattoo Logo today, 6th December 2024 at the Defence Headquarters Abuja which showcase the history, culture, practises, skills, discipline, and the heritage of the Nigerian forces.

According to the Chief of Defence Staff, no foreign body will establish any foreign military base in Nigeria, not in the north, not in the south, not anywhere. That never happened in the north.

He said Mr. President has said it should be very, clear. Whatever he was signing is a bilateral agreement on trade, on culture, on tradition, on cooperation, on economy.

He said, the President has said this not to allow a common established base camps in Nigeria.

"Nothing like that. Mr. President knows the implications of the President. He knows that he must protect Nigeria and he will never allow any foreign body.

"We will continue to partner together bilaterally because we do training together. We will consistently send our he officers, That is a normal thing that is done by the foreign. Having foreign military base in Nigeria is not part of Mr. President's plan. So I want to trust this as an opportunity to make that clarification.

General Musa reiterated the Armed Forces of Nigeria commitment to peace and security in Nigeria, Africa, and globally, through various initiatives and strategies.
