US Issues Final Warning to North Korea

The United States has warned Kim Jong Un that any nuclear attack from North Korea would bring about the end of his regime.

U.S. Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin issued this warning on Wednesday following North Korea’s latest intercontinental ballistic missile test.

Speaking at the Pentagon alongside his South Korean counterpart, Kim Yong-hyun, Austin also reaffirmed Washington's unwavering support for South Korea’s defense, which includes nuclear deterrence as well as broader U.S. military capabilities.

"He emphasized that any nuclear attack by the DPRK (Democratic People's Republic of Korea) against the United States or its allies and partners is unacceptable and would lead to the end of the Kim regime," the statement added.

This warning echoes similar messages from U.S. President Joe Biden and South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol.

The two leaders also commended the success of recent large-scale military exercises conducted in South Korea, and confirmed that both nations would continue joint training, now incorporating even more realistic war scenarios.
