The Defence Headquarters, says the Nigerian Air Force is already engaged in flying sensitive electoral material in support of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC for a smooth distribution of logistics.
Director Defence Media Operation, Maj. Gen Edward in a press statement revealed that troops are also deployed in strength to provided assistance to the police in ensuring a hitch free off-cycle governorship election in Ondo State, slated for 16 Nov 24.
"Indeed, troops presence is to ensure security of citizens enabling them to cast their votes without any form of harassment or intimidation, while keeping mischief makers at bay.
It would be recall that, the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Christopher Gwabin Musa OFR visited Ondo State Governor, Mr Lucky Aiyadatiwa on Thursday, 14 November 2024.
The visit according was part of the CDS' operational visit to assess the readiness of troops and other security agencies that will support the conduct of the gubernatorial elections in the state on Saturday.
