The Director, Army Public Relations Officer, Major General Onyema Nwachukwu on Monday conducted the investiture of newly promoted Captains with their new ranks of Majors after their promotion got approved by the Army Council for the year 2024 charging them to redouble their efforts in the discharge of their duties irrespective of the task assign to them as a senior officers.
General Nwachukwu gave this charge today, Monday 7th October, 2024 at the investiture ceremony of Captain Akinola Skid Charles Ajibola and Captain Audu Arison Arigu of the Directorate of Army Public Relations at the Army Headquarters, Abuja.
SpyeTV reports that Captain David Ayobami Oni-Orisan, the Liason Officer of the Nigerian Army Officers' Wives Association had earlier on Friday decorated alongside with two other officers from the office of the Chief of Army Staff, Captain Moses Akor, and Captain Oluwafemi Ipindamitan.
The officers who were elevated from rank of Captain to Majors at the recently released promotion for year 2024, in which about 8 Officers from the Directorate of Army Public Relations benefited.
Speaking at the Investiture ceremony, General Nwachukwu while acknowledging iconic personalities like the Former Director Defence Information and Former Director Army Public Relations Officers, Maj. Gen Chris Olukolade (Rtd), Former Director, Army Public Relations Officer, Brig. General Sani K. Usman (Rtd) and Former Commandant NASPRI, Col. Mustapha Anka, noted that the newly promoted senior officers have brought a lots of value on board. They have joined my team. They have demonstrated professionalism in the cause of their duties and executing their tasks.
He urged them to always take cognisant of their actions and inactions because their mistake will not be overlooked as a senior officer.
"I know i am a workaholic, i stay awake till the task is done but the little time i have spent with them, they have shown resilience, dedication, loyalty, diligence.
"Promotion comes from God but equally with hardwork. Ajibola and Arigo have shown me that they are very reliable. One thing i appreciate about those who work with me is the drive, the zeal and these officer have it and I tapped into them." he said
General Nwachukwu stressed that the promotion was a testament to their courage, dedication to duty and hard work, noting that their diligence to duty, professional conduct and sacrifices earned them their elevation.
He commended them for joining his team to pioneer DAPR Media Team Production Studio for video production and creation of content for the Nigerian Army. He thanked their wives for keeping the homefront alive and running peacefully when their husbands are not there.

Retired Maj. General Olukolade noted that senior officer rank begins from Major and it's a rank every officers seek to attain. He congratulated them for attaining the rank.
"If you have not made your name at the rank of a Captain, or make prospect, you have much work to do to prove yourself in the Army. But if you are able to establish a status at that level, it's an indication that you still have great prospect ahead to rise to the top.
Maj General Olukolade (Rtd) is optimistic that having attained the rank of a Major, there are assurance that they have prospect for them to be able to rise to the enviable rank ahead and to the top of their career.
He affirmed that he feel fulfilled and identified with the position of the former Directors and other senior officers that pointed out the significance of the promotion.
He urged them to be logical and objective in their professional dealings as well as put in their best towards delivering on Nigerian Army's objectives.
Also in his goodwill. message, the former Director Army Public Relations Officer, Retired Brig. General Sani Kukasheka Usman congratulates Major General Onyema Nwachukwu, the incumbent Director Army Public Relations for his leadership and for such unprecedented development at the Directorate which goes a long way to shows he is giving desired and nurtured leadership, hence the system recognises it.
Brig. General Usman (Rtd) congratulated the newly decorated majors, saying their promotion was a reward for their hard work and commitment to duty.
On his part, the Former Commandant NASPRI, Col. Mustapha Anka (Rtd) advised the newly promoted senior officers to make sure they add value wherever the found themselves.
The investiture ceremony of Major Akinola Skid Charles Ajibola, Major Audu Arison Arigu, and Major David Ayobami Oni-Orisan, from the Directorate of Army Public Relations and Major Moses Akor, and Major Oluwafemi Ipindamitan from the Office of the Chief of Army Staff which took place at the Army Headquarters, Abuja on Friday and Monday respectively were well attended by Former Directors of the APR, Military Assistant to the COAS, retired Senior officers of the Nigerian Army, spouses of the newly promoted officer, family, friends and their coursemates.
