In a joint operation with the Nigerian Army, led by three personnel of the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) Special Forces, has successfull eliminated the notorious terrorist kingpin Halilu Buzu Sububu and over 38 terrorists during an engagement near Mayanchi on 12 September 2024 at Mayanchi village in Zamfara State.
The operation was part of an ongoing effort by NAF and ground forces to exploit intelligence and secure the area following contact with hostile elements.
NAF Special Forces of Operation HADARIN DAJI in company of other ground troops initiated a follow-up exploitation mission after troops encountered terrorists in the vicinity of Mayanchi.
The terrorists kingpin and his fighters, who put up a firece resistance on encountering the troops, however succumbed to the overwhelming firepower of the valiant troops.
During the mission, it was confirmed that 38 terrorists had been neutralized, with 4 bodies retrieved for verification
On winning the fire fight, the troops recovered two Rocket Propelled Grenade (RPG) guns, three PKT guns, five AK-47 rifles, 479 rounds of PKT ammunition, 366 rounds of 7.62mm (special) ammunition,182 rounds of Machine Gun1 ammunition, one RPG Bomb, 29 AK-47 Magazines, 30 Motorcycles, two Android phones, and two Yeekee phones.
Troops have also destroyed the terrorists' camp and currently conducting further exploitation in the general engagement area and even beyond.
