'Army's 2 Brigade HQ in Akwa Ibom a Catalyst for Peace'- Says Governor Umo Eno, Declares Open COAS Conference

The Akwa Ibom State Governor, Umo Eno has said that the establishment of the Headquarters of the 2 Brigade of the Nigerian Army in the state has contributed in no small measure to the relatively peace experience in the state.

Governor Umo Eno said this today, Tuesday 27th August 2024 which declaring Open the Chief Of Army Staff combined second and third quarters conference 2024 in Uyo.

Governor Eno said the establishment of this new brigade has also contributed to to good and harmonious relationship between the Nigerian Army and his administration alongside other sisters agencies in maintaining the peace we enjoy in Akwa Ibom.

"This is believe among others informed your decisions to choose Akwa Ibom State to host this auspicious event as a further pointer to the Government relationship between Akwa Ibom and the Nigerian Army. 

The excited governor who was delighted to be at the openong ceremony appreciated the continued efforts in addressing the current security challenges bedeviling the current nation. 

"It goes with this saying that security is the key requirement for national development. One decision that plays and continue to play the key roles in achieving much needed security is the Nigerian Army and It's also remain a veritable tools of projecting the country's National power."

Gov Eno noted that since his assumption of office, he has been particularly impressed with the progressive restructuring of the Nigerian Army. He said he watch with great delight and. Pride the Maiden flight of the Nigerian Army aviation during the just concluded Nigerian Army Day celebrations in Jos, and he came to conclusion that the Nigerian Army constantly innovating and deepen his competent  and professionalism as required of the modern Army.

He commended the Chief of Army Staff, Lt Gen Taoreed Lagbaja for the purposeful direction he has given to the Nigerian Army towards  meeting its constitutional responsibility.

Governor Eno also revealed that one of the key component of his administration Blueprint, The Arise Agenda is security and the S in the Arise Agenda stands for security management. 

He said, to show his commitment in maintaining the Security management, he set up an Internal Security Ministry and Waterways headed by Retired Maj General Koko Essien who has done exceedingly well and has shown competence in the discharged of his duty as someone who came from the Nigerian Army.

"We created Ibom Community Watch, a community based informer security architecture that serves to complement the activities of the security agencies with the intelligence and physical presence especially based on the deep knowledge of their locality.

He said he is positive that Lt General Lagbaja's purposeful leadership will provide direction in establishing good foundation for the Nigerian Army. 

SpyeTV News reports that Governor Umo Eno had on Monday when he received top brass of the Nigerian Army led by the Lieutenant-General Lagbaja in Government House, Uyo, the state capital requested the Nigeria Army to establish a battalion in Oron local government area to help curtail the lingering security challenges around the coastal area of the state.
