According to the Director of Information, NN, Commodore Adams-Aliu, between July 22 and 24, 2024, Navy units uncovered an illegal oil bunkering storage facility, rescued four fishermen, and confiscated 56 bags of cannabis.
On July 22, the Quick Response Team of Nigerian Navy Ship PATHFINDER discovered an illegal storage facility used by oil bunkers in Egbema Okwuzi town, Rivers State.
The team arrested two suspects and seized 68,000 liters of illegally refined Automotive Gas Oil, along with equipment such as pumping machines and outboard engines.
He noted that investigations are ongoing to identify the facility’s owner and collaborators.
In a separate incident, personnel from the Nigerian Navy Forward Operating Base BADAGRY rescued four Ghanaian fishermen whose boat had capsized due to rough seas.
The rescue operation took place about 10 nautical miles from the Lagos Fair Way Bouy.
On July 24, the Quick Response Team of Nigerian Navy Ship BEECROFT intercepted a wooden boat loaded with 56 bags of cannabis sativa at MOBA Beach, Badagry. The suspects are currently being pursued, and their arrest is imminent.
