The incumbent President of the Africa Military Sports Organization (OSMA), Major General Abdullahi Maikano is currently on a diplomatic tour across various African countries to campaign for participation of Ghana and African countries at the forthcoming African Military Games.
A total of 2,000 athletes from 42 countries will participate in the third edition of the African Military Games to be hosted by Nigeria in Nov. 2024.
The OSMA President’s diplomatic tour will extend to Juba South Sudan, Burkina Faso, the Democratic Republic of Congo, the Republic of Congo, Gabon, Benin, and Togo, to prepare military athletes for full participation and suppor at the African Military Games to be hosted by Nigeria in Nov. 2024.
General Maikano who doubles as the President of the Organisation of Military Sports in Africa, OSMA and as Vice President of the International Military Sports Council, said the Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa approved the game after OSMA gave the hosting rights to Nigeria during the 7th OSMA General Assembly in Sierra Leone.
The games would feature a diverse range of sporting disciplines, including athletics, swimming, shooting, and martial arts, among others.

He said the approval of the Chief of Defence Staff, Ghana will be hosting the OSMA Board of Director Meeting in February 2025.
Emphasizing the significance of the African Military Games, General Maikano its slated for November in Abuja, and promises to promote camaraderie and esprit de corps among African military personnel in Africa.
