Dangote Reacts to Fire Outbreak News

A fire broke out on Wednesday afternoon at a section of the $20 billion Dangote Refinery, located near Lekki, Lagos.

Reports say that emergency services responded swiftly to contain the incident, and according to initial reports, no injuries have been sustained.

The cause of the fire is yet to be made known, and investigations are underway to determine the extent of the damage and what led to the incident. 

Dangote Industries Limited in his statement Signed by Group Chief Branding & Communications Officer Dangote Industries Limited,  Anthony Chiejina said Dangote Refinery contains minor fire at its effluent treatment plant and we have swiftly contained a minor fire incident at our effluent (wastewater) treatment plant (ETP), today Wednesday 26th of June.

"There is no cause for alarm as the refinery is operating and there is no recorded injury or body harm to any of our staff on duty.

The Dangote Refinery is a massive project under construction with a projected refining capacity of 650,000 barrels per day.

Social media has been abuzz with videos and reports of the fire.
