44 Boko Haram/ISWAP Terrorists Fighters Surrender to Nigerian Military in One Week


The Defence Headquarters says, 44 Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorists fighters and their families comprising of 11 adult males, 13 adult females and 22 children surrendered to troops in Mafa, Konduga and Gwoza LGAs of Borno State.

Director, Defence Media Operations, Major General Edward Buba disclosed this in a press statement made available to SpyeTV News Abuja on the ongoing operations by the armed Forces of Nigeria as at 12 April 2024.

General Buba noted that Troops recovered 10 AK47 rifles, 2 fabricated guns, 324 rounds of 7.62mm special ammo, 121 rounds of 7.62mm NATO, one hand grenade, one bandolier, 4 mobile phones and the sum of N180,000.00 amongst others.

On 8 April 2024, 2 adult males BH/ISWAP/JAS terrorists fighters named Ibn Ali and Jaafar Abdullahi surrendered to troops in Bama LGA of Borno State. Troops recovered, 2 AK47 rifles, 2 AK47 magazines, 52 rounds of 7.62mm special ammo, 2 bicycles and 2 mobile phones.

Between 3 - 9 Apr 24, a total of 136 terrorist comprising 24 adult males 38 adult females and 74 children surrendered to troops within the theatre of operations.

On 4 April 2024, following intelligence on terrorist activities. The air component conducted air strike on ISWAP/JAS terrorists logistics hub with IEDs and ammunitions fabricated factory around Mandara mountains. Battle Damage Assessment revealed that several terrorists were neutralized and their logistics destroyed a result of the strike. 

Additionally, air component of Operation HADIN KAI in conjunction with Nigerien ISR provided close air support for land component under attacked in Mobbar LGA Borno State. Overhead, the terrorists were engaged with bombs and cannons. Battle Damage Assessment revealed that several terrorists were neutralized. 

Overall, troops of Operation HADIN KAI neutralized 68 terrorists, arrested 182 suspects and rescued 53 kidnappers hostages. Troops recovered 58 AK47 rifles, 3 PKT guns, 14 fabricated guns, 12 dane guns, one hand grenade, one bandolier, 741 rounds of 7.62mm special ammo, 510 rounds of 7.62mm NATO, 151 rounds of 7.62 x 39mm ammo, 17 magazines, 4 baofeng radios, 3 magazine jackets, 6 motorcycles, 19 bicycles 14 mobile phones and the sum of N322,900.00 amongst others.
