CDS, General Christopher Musa Throws Weight Behind MNJTF's Operation Nashrul Salam in Lake Chad Region

The Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Gwabin Musa has thrown weight behind Operation Nashrul Salam, a non-kinetic operation of the MNJTF, which has been instrumental in persuading terrorists to embrace peace and renounce violence in the Lake Chad area.

The Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF) has reported a series of successes in the fight against terrorism as Operation Nashrul Salam triggers more surrenders. This approach reflects a strategic shift towards addressing the root causes of conflict and promoting sustainable peace in the region."

General Musa, expressed his appreciation when Force Commander Maj Gen Ibrahim Sallau Ali paid him a courtesy visit at the Defence Headquarters in Abuja

 for the MNJTF's dedication to stabilizing the Lake Chad area, highlighting its crucial economic importance to the neighboring countries.

He emphasized the need to continue supporting the MNJTF in achieving its mandate and pledged further assistance to ensure the force's continued success in the fight against terrorism.

Force Commander Maj Gen Ibrahim Sallau Ali disclosed that an increasing number of terrorists have recently laid down their arms in the Republic of Chad, Cameroon, and Nigeria, demonstrating a significant shift in the ongoing operations against insurgency in the region. He also commended the Nigerian Armed Forces for their unwavering support to the MNJTF in its efforts to combat terrorism.

The Force Commanded added that the MNJTF also intensified intervention in providing support to the communities to facilitate their recoveries through Quick  Impact Projects. He stated that recently in Sector 3 Monguno-Nigeria, over eight communities benefited from thirty five projects in water, education and health sectors.

The operation's success in encouraging surrenders from insurgents in multiple countries is a testament to the effectiveness of this non-violent approach in countering terrorism and fostering stability.
